Ready for the Markets

Ready for the Markets

It has been a while ...

since I last posted and some much has happened.

I have finished up all my markets for the year. Been trying to keep the website up to date. (Failuring at that one). Keeping the house organised, the children feed, bathed and happy. And life generally on track.

Red Cherry Lane will be taking a little break for a while as I focus on family adventures. There will be no markets in 2011, just the website and hopefully this blog will be used a lot more.

Stay tuned as my family of 5 (hubby, big girl, little girl, little boy and me) travel around our great big land for 7 months in a Toyota Landcruiser with Bushtracker caravan attached. We plan on keeping all our family and friends informed of our travels via blog.

Till then, have a great New Year!

St Ives Heritage Fair

Thank you to all the lovely people who came out and supported the St Ives Heritage Fair yesterday. The weather was great with the sun shinning and a little breeze.

Handmade by Susan and I will not be at next months Fair but we will be back in September. Unfortuately not the same spot but come along and search the stalls as we will be there somewhere. September Fair date is Sunday 5th September 2010.

Look forward to seeing you again then. In the mean time Susan and I will be popping up at other venues so watch this space for more information.

Cold, cold day!

I am knitting! Well, trying to.

It is a cold, miserable, overcast day and therefore I am in the mood for knitting. Every year I pull out my knitting needles and my one ball of wool and reteach myself (because I have forgotten in one year) how to cast on and knit. I can only wish each time that I might suddenly discover that I am not half bad at this craft. Unfortunately, this year is like every other and I suck at it. I wish I inherited my grandmothers knitting flare and not just her stash of needles. Even my mother can knit quite well and made my eldest daughter a beanie and matching scarf a couple of years ago. I pester her every winter to make one for my second daughter but she never appears to seem inspired to do so. I am certainly not in any position to do it myself because the knowledge and ability just aren't there. All this knitting is really just procrastination for what I really should be doing, which is tied to the sewing machine making more stock.

I have been busy making my good friends daughter Miss Abby a rainbow coloured bunting and rainbow bracelet for her 5th birthday. I am pretty happy with the final result.

Until next time.

What to do ...

Thank you to all the people who came and saw me at Mt Colah Uniting Church Autumn Fair recently. It was great to see so many friends and to make so many new ones.

Now, the decision is, what to do next. Really I should be spending my time getting my website up and running but the weather and children aren't being very cooperative for photography of my stock. Instead I am spending my time making up more mini purses and the new iPhone purse as both are proving popular. I am also trying to decide which market to do next and which ones fit into my current committments of netball, church and family birthdays.

Watch this space to see what conclusion I come to and where you can find me next.

Till then...
Thea

What is in your handbag?

The contents of my handbag is often a pleasant surprise of treasures and just a little bit of rubbish. Every now and then my handbag starts to overflow and I have the desire to tip it upside down onto the nearest table so as to rediscover what has been hiding inside. Sometimes there is great joy as I find my favourite lip gloss, bracelet or even some extra cash. Often there is complete confusion at how I managed to be carrying around with me two baby bibs, three hankies, Thomas the tank engine, numerous toy cars, hair elastics and even opened band aid wrappers. No wonder it was overflowing.

I seem to be always trying to find the little things in my handbag, chasing them around the base of my bag, sure to find them soon. I needed a pouch in order to stop my never ending chasing and therefore I made the mini purse. The mini purse is great for my lip gloss, gift vouchers, panadol, female hygiene supplies and broken jewellery to take for repair. It is also great for those days when I abandon my handbag altogether and just need my drivers licence, credit card, a little cash and my keys or small phone.

All mini purses are made from 100% cotton designer fabric, 100% cotton lining, polyester interfacing and can be soaked in napisan and machine washed if they get a little dirty. I recommend you use a cool iron to iron out any creases and avoid ironing over the Red Cherry Lane label.

I love my mini purse and will be making one soon that fits an iPhone, cards and a small set of keys for all those working ladies who wish to lock their personals away in a drawer at work.

Contact me if you would like to purchase a mini purse for $10 (includes postage and handling) by emailing me on thea@redcherrylane.com. The mini purse is approx 10cm (h) x 12.5cm (w) at base with zipper opening 9cm long.

Welcome to Red Cherry Lane

Firstly, let me tell you a little about myself. I am a mother to three young children, wife to a wonderful husband, owner of a spotty four legged friend and love to make things.

I love covered buttons and am currently making jewellery and hair accessories with them. I also love designer fabrics and currently making some lovely soft fabric handbags and coin purses. All these items I will be selling at markets and on my website (which I am yet to find the time to get up and running).

On this blog I will try and keep you up to date on my latest creations with pictures and words.

I am pleased to let you know that Red Cherry Lane items will be available at the Burrawang Markets on Easter Saturday and Berry Markets on Easter Sunday in the Southern Highlands of NSW. Myf Webster of Giraffe Glass has kindly offered to display my items at both these events. If you are in the area, pop in and support Myf and other stall holders this weekend and enjoy the local produce, products and scenery on offer.

Don't forget to visit me for regular updates and have a sneak peek at, what I have on offer.
